Blog (updated 6/10/12)

We just finished a class with Sally Kallin at the studio.  What a great gal and teacher!  We had such a nice time together!  I worked on our Clipper ship from the website.  I hooked the sails, ship and letters during the workshop.  Sally had this wonderful red and white large herringbone wool for the letters.  Perfect!  I hooked the water behind the letters yesterday.  I am looking forward to hooking the sky in muted medium value teal.

Right before the workshop I finished "Kantha Quilt".  The picture of the finished rug is in the pattern section, under "Samplers".  Linda said the colors made her think of rich spices.  I would agree.

Linda will be back from vacation soon and she will be designing rugs patterns again.  If you have any requests, now is the time to make them known!  Email or call me and let me know what you would like.

I just returned from Oelwein, Iowa.  I taught a class at Lou Ann's Quilt Garden Shop. What a nice group of ladies!  We had a few Peacock projects, visited the Southwest with Cactus, had some bird nest chair pads, a Rooster, an Iowa Vintage Postcard, a Rabbit with an umbrella, a watering can, Santa Claus, and a Hummingbird Sample.  Such a variety of projects and techniques.  Lou Ann's Quilt Garden Shop has wonderful apartments above the shop.  Each room used to be an apartment.  Lou Ann and her husband have fixed them up by painting each room a wonderful, buttery yellow.  Each room is decorated with antiques and quilts on each bed that Lou Ann has made.  It is so charming and cozy!  Perfect retreat for crafty groups!  Check out this link on facebook to see pictures of where we stayed and had this rug hooking class:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lou-Anns-Quilt-Garden-Retreat/128266820539062

Thank you to all the ladies from Iowa that made this class so special!

We went to Kansas City a couple of weeks ago for a little R&R and inspiration.  We were on our way to a movie when I spied a shop of reworked vintage clothing in an Airstream travel trailer.  Angie Snow is the owner of MoVi - Modern-Vintage-Mobile-Boutique.  She was parked on the street in front of a restaurant when we happened by.  I asked Paul and my mother-in-law Edith if they would mind if I went in.  Pictured below is me entering this wonderful, one-of-a-kind shop and my mother-in-law Edith close behind.  I asked Paul to take a picture of this cute shop. We went in and there were 2 full racks of darling vintage clothing, shoes and jewelry.  We were on our way to the movies, so I didn't have time to try anything on(Angie has 2 dressing rooms in the back of the Airstream).  I told Angie I thought the dress in front of the shop was just perfect for me and it came home with me.  Later that night, I tried on the dress in our hotel room.  It fits perfectly, just like it was made for me.  I love it!  To see more Vintage goodies from Angie go to facebook.com/shop MoVi

Of course Skif remains my favorite clothing (I am wearing my new jumper from Skif in the picture below), but MoVi is now my second favorite clothing store.
